About

The hardest part for me about writing a bio is coming up with an interesting way to present what I’m about. It’s got to be something apart from the ho-hum “I’ve done this, I’ve done that, I live in Dullsville, I have 10 cats” kind of thing. And that’s hard to do. Some people have really interesting, quirky, funny, enviable bios. I generally don’t. But if you really want to know who I am and what I’m about, here ya go.

I live in New York City, where I’ve worked in publishing for 20 years. Well, not now. Not anymore. I got screwed in the big publishing industry collapse/implosion/landslide/tsunami/disaster, which is part of the larger economic debacle. So, I’m doing something else now. But I’ve put my experience to use recently when I co-edited Skulls & Crossbones: Tales of Women Pirates with Andi Marquette. That was a fun project and Andi and I are discussing doing future projects together.

Professionally, I’ve always been involved with nonfiction–editing and writing it. But always on the back burner was my love of fiction writing. I left it behind in favor of nonfiction sometime in the ’90s, but a couple of years ago, I rediscovered it and have been writing fiction ever since.

I’ve been fortunate enough to get a few short stories published recently and I’m working on a novel that’s been hanging around me for about 15 years. I hope to finish that this year.

I’d love to hear from you, so feel free to leave a comment.
